A Cappella Arranging
​(3-Session Virtual Course)

Quality of arrangement can significantly affect the way your ensemble performs... for better or worse. Arranging decisions can enhance or diminish ease of learning, memorization, tuning, dynamics, tone and performance, among other aspects. Empower your a cappella group by learning to write singer-first arrangements.

In this 3-week course, we will address the following questions and more:
  • How do I create full harmonies with only 2 or 3 voice parts?
  • How can I make my arrangement engaging for every voice part, while keeping it repetitive?
  • How do I write for treble a cappella when the range is so limited? How about unchanged voices?
  • What if I don't have any tenors?
  • How do I write a bass line?
  • How can I publish and sell my arrangements?
  • Where do I even start?​
The course includes three live interactive virtual class sessions PLUS 24/7 access to the online classroom community where you can ask questions, share progress & have in-depth discussions beyond what we cover in class sessions. Between classes, students are encouraged to work on individual arranging projects to practice skills and share for feedback.

Prior to beginning the course, the student should have:
  • A basic understanding of music notation & chord building
  • Access to a notation software. Some free ones include MuseScore & Noteflight. Instructor will demonstrate in MuseScore

  • Access to a multi-track recording application or DAW. Some free ones include Reaper (free for 60 days), BandLab, GarageBand. Instructor will demonstrate in Reaper
